Digest #14 - Zionists attack Iran, Soumoud convoy to Gaza, Sadiq Khan is “honoured” & Northern Ireland descends into chaos
As the Soumoud convoy heads to the Rafah border, David Lammy tries to save face (again), Sadiq Khan is a Sir and Northern Ireland descends into chaos.
Muslim Lens Digest is a look at a selection of news stories from a Muslim viewpoint, searching for meaning and a way forward in a world fast descending into anarchy.
Zionists attack Iran
The story: In a move that wasn’t totally unexpected even if the timing was, Israel has attacked Iran. As Europe slept Iran’s nuclear programme as well as other military sites were hit by the Zionists. There are reports that the head of Iran’s Republican Guard Hossein Salami has been killed. Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has said that the attacks shows Israel’s vile nature and that it will receive a”bitter fate”. With reports of civilian deaths and residential targets hit Iran will have to respond.
The great serpent (thats what Iran likes to call it) the United States has said it didn’t authorise the attacks. U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said in a statement.
"We are not involved in strikes against Iran and our top priority is protecting American forces in the region,"
"Let me be clear: Iran should not target U.S. interests or personnel."
Why is this important: Simply put the world will be concerned about the start of World War III, a little dramatic perhaps, but with the genocide in Gaza, the war in Ukraine and now this for the average person it seems like the world is spiralling out of control. This is what it looks like from the outside but most things in geopolitics are carefully controlled and calculated. Even though Netanyahu has gone a little rogue from US control recently, it isn’t clear if this was totally an independent action without US approval.
Hours before Netanyahu had survived a vote to dissolve parliament, hours before that the UN nuclear watchdog had said Iran was not complying with obligations for the first time in 20 years. When Netanyahu says the attacks were carried out for “Israel's very survival”, maybe it was more for his own political survival.
Muslim Lens view : The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) statement about Iran’s nuclear programme early yesterday was most likely a green light for the Zionists to attack Iran. The narrative that Netanyahu is pushing that Iran was days away from developing the bomb is a little much, also he is a lying war criminal. The will-they-won’t-they relationship between Iran and the Zionists goes back even longer than Trump-Musk. This is more of the same.
As is the way with Trump he likes to play the “it wasn’t me, we don’t get involved in these things “ card. The same card he played in the Pakistan - India conflict. It is too early to say if the Americans authorised this, it is clear though the timing of the UN statement simply gave Netanyahu the excuse to attack. Never believe a word the American administration says their hand is always in the cookie jar.
Iran’s statements regarding the Zionists have always been bold, previous President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad famously said:
"Anybody who recognises Israel will burn in the fire of the Islamic nation's fury, [while] any [Islamic leader] who recognises the Zionist regime means he is acknowledging the surrender and defeat of the Islamic world."
”As the imam (Ruhollah Khomeini) said, Israel must be wiped off the map.
Mahmoud Ahmadinejad - The World Without Zionism conference 2005
This statement seems like yesterday but it was 20 years ago and if he had shown a little political backbone - the world would not have to be witnessing a genocide today.
Ali Khamenei could have done with showing this level of anger when Palestinian children were being starved in Gaza. The only time the Iranians have acted is when Hezbollah their own proxy was attacked in Lebanon.
As always with geopolitics - watch this space - another way of saying no body knows whats going on yet.
[This is a late addition to this digest and events are still unfolding, nothing is sacred from the Zionists , not even my sleep]
Soumoud convoy looks to break the siege on Gaza
The story: In unprecedented scenes Muslims from across North Africa along with Muslims and non-Muslims across the world came together on the Soumoud convoy towards the Egyptian Rafah border. Moving across Libya there were stories of free fuel being offered to the convoy with thousands lining the routes to show their support. Ignoring the inaction of their rulers thousands joined the convoy in the hope of finally breaking the barbaric Zionist siege on Gaza.
Why is this important: There is little doubt that Palestine is very dear to the heart of the nearly two billion Muslims in the world. This is however a statement of intent of that the Ummah will not sit inactive whilst they see their brothers and sisters massacred by the Zionists. In countries where protesting is a dangerous thing, possibly leading to imprisonment for thousands to join the convoy is heartening.
Muslim Lens view : Just like the Arab Spring this convoy is more than symbolic it could be the catalyst for real change. The people still have unity and hope in one another and they are willing to sacrifice. The Arab rulers for their part don’t mind the people on the convoy as long as they don’t turn on them en-route.
This convoy should be a signal to those in the Muslim armies to break ranks and support the cause of Gaza. If not now then when?
The unfortunate reality is that Sisi of Egypt is an agent of the Zionists and has begun rounding up and deporting some of those on the convoy as they reach Egypt. This is not to lose hope, it further cements Sisi and other rulers places as traitors to their own people. Their time will surely come.
David Lammy doing David Lammy things
The story: This week David Lammy announced the British government was sanctioning two Zionist politicians. Israeli Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir and Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich will not be allowed to travel to the UK and will have their assets frozen. Not sure how much they both had in their union jack piggy banks but I’m sure they will be fine
Why is this important: The genocide in Gaza has put its Western backers in an awkward position. As previously noted the optics of dead children all over social media don’t look good especially if you have a righteous political image to maintain.
Muslim Lens view : Don’t be fooled this is not about David Lammy or the British government developing a conscious. What ever little self worth he had was bought by the Zionists along time ago. This is now a shell of a man staring into the abyss of a political career which can only go one way. In a desperate attempt to be the good guy and save face for the government these meaningless sanctions have been applied.
As is shown by the great article linked below, the British are actively training Zionists how to kill children to this day. If there was real appetite within Whitehall to stop the genocide you would think the best place to start would be not to arm and train baby killers.
Bonus points: Just to show what kind of political charlatan David Lammy is I came across an old tweet of his. Screenshot of tweet from 2017 below.
Yes David all very righteous, but don’t forget the raped babies on 7the October lie, we will never going to forgive you for that. This man flip flops more than a dying fish.
Sadiq Khan is “honoured”
The story: Sadiq Khan Mayor of London, has been Knighted. This now means he is Sir Sadiq Khan, if you don’t pay much credence to old colonial titles you can just call him Sadiq Khan if you want.
Either way he has been honoured by King Charles. If your idea of an honour is awkwardly getting down on one knee in front of your old colonial master whilst he brandishes a sharp sword around your head; in the hope that someone from the audience doesn’t shout “off with his head”. Not my cup of tea - each to their own.
Why is this important: The Royal honours are a way of giving appreciation to the subjects of the King. Although the monarchy has a limited role in British society nowadays, the symbolism is still there. It is a way of the Empire of old appreciating great servitude to the King / Queen. Other honours such as the OBE and MBE actually have the terms British Empire in the name.
Muslim Lens view: Sadiq Khan and I have a few things in common, He is Pakistani, Muslim and the son of a bus driver. I am Pakistani, Muslim and also the son of a bus driver. We could be brothers! However our experiences have been different, I along with many Muslims would never accept an honour stooped in empire.
There is something that doesn’t sit right about it all. Even non-Muslims such as the poet Benjamin Zephaniah turned down the OBE stating that he had been fighting against empire all his life. This fight was not to impress anyone but for his rights.
How Sadiq Khan can accept an honour from the British who created the state of Israel; at a time when that same illegitimate child of British foreign policy is butchering innocent children in Gaza is beyond me.
True honour comes from your creator not other men, the honourable thing would have been politely decline said “honour” stating a clear opposition to the British aiding a genocide in Gaza. In fact step away from your position as Mayor of London as a principled stance. I am sure he has made a pretty penny and he could walk into any corporate job he wanted.
This is the danger of going down the murky road of democratic politics, once you are in its difficult to come out the other end with any semblance of principles. Especially true for Muslims.
Northern Ireland descends into chaos
The story: There have been nights of riots in several places in Northern Ireland. The catalyst for the unrest was the case of an assault on a teenage girl. Two 14-year old boys were charged with attempted rape, they appeared in court helped by a Romanian translator, making them immigrants. A vigil in Ballymena turned violent with mobs of young men attacking and burning any non-British properties as well as attacking the police. Residents had to go as far as to fly union jacks outside their houses to avoid them being attacked.
Why is this important: The world is a rapidly changing place, it is clear the level of tolerance for immigrants within democratic societies has taken a nose dive. Multiculturalism has been killed off in favour of muscular forced assimilation. As economies suffer, governments ignore the average man and the media builds hate Western societies have become a tinder box. All it needs is a spark as mainland Britain realised last year in Southport.
Muslim Lens view: Growing up in the 1980’s in a Northern British town the fear of being “jumped” by racists was real. More so for me as I didn’t know when to keep my mouth shut. I managed to escape with one or two minor beatings, it built character.
I can only imagine the absolute fear foreigners in Northern Ireland must be feeling. This is made more accute by the fact that the minority communities there are not sizeable.
Far right mobs attempting to attack Muslim communities such as Birmingham last year had second thoughts when confronted by a sizeable opposition ready to defend their homes.
Northern Ireland has had its own historical troubles with the Catholic and Protestant divide, this simply further exacerbates issues. As is always the case far right loyalist groups are fuelling discontent for their own political goals. Just as in Southport failures of the political system are easily directed at foreigners rather than the ruling elite. Sexual assault is not a race issue but a societal decay issue. If we want to fix this then society needs to have some deep meaningful conversations about the role of women and relationships.
Ballymena is a symptom of the rot societies across Europe are facing, secular capitalism’s failure to create cohesive societies is now coming out. All it takes is one excuse for it all to kick off.
