Digest #9 - Muslim blood is cheap but in unity there is hope & don't trust the Americans
As the American's rush to make deals across the Middle East, Muslims must take hope in small victories.
The thing with writing about the news is the wanting to talk about everything, everywhere all at once. Maybe it has something to do with living in an age where everyone is talking about the events as they happen and you can feel obliged to jump onto the bandwagon.
This is something the Indian media / social media got so wrong when it came to the Indian attack on Pakistan. There is always media spin in war but the Indians took it to a whole new level with false claims of destroying Karachi port and evacuations of Lahore amongst some of the more absurd lies. Just like the Zionists before them, the Hindutva led government in India lost the information war.
One way to understand vast amount of news is through collating the information into themes and understanding what it tells us about the world. In the last week the news told us:
Muslim blood is cheap
India’s initial attack on Pakistan targeted Mosques and killed children the world didn’t blink an eye. Imagine Pakistan bombing Hindu temples, the outcry would be deafening.
As Palestinian children starve Netanyahu announced the Zionist plan to capture Gaza and push the people into concentration camps. Scenes from Gaza are reminiscent of those from starving children in Africa decades ago. The global condemnation of the Zionists has been muted, where there are words of condemnation they are of little use for a starving people.
Interests outweigh friendship
There is a famous Henry Kissinger quote
“America has no permanent friends or enemies, only interests”.
British Prime Minister Lord Palmerston said something similar in the 19th Century.
This idea has been the bedrock of Western foreign policy for centuries, something which seen in abundance in the last week. After securing a ceasefire between India and Pakistan, Trump said he gave them a simple demand make trade not war and both sides agreed. JD Vance stated that the Americans intervened after ‘alarming intelligence’ reports.
According to the New York Times, Donald Trump grew weary of the continuing engagement with the Houthis in Yemen and reached an agreement. The Houthis would stop targeting American ships in the Red Sea, with no agreement of stopping any attacks on Israel and America would stop its bombing campaign in Yemen. There has been widespread reporting that Trump is now willing to recognise a Palestinian state without the presence of Hamas this weeks after stating he wanted to push the Gazans out and create a Riviera of the Middle East. Trump also stuck a deal to release Israeli-American Edan Alexander the last US hostage held by Hamas leading the FT to write that Trump is losing patience with Netanyahu. Their relationship maybe souring, but then again only until it is in America’s interest to change again.
At the time of writing this Trump has struck a deal to sell arms to the Saudis and even a deal with the Syrians which includes building a Trump Tower in Damascus. Ahmed al-Sharaa knows how to massage the tanned ego. Something worth dissecting another time, for now its enough to say be afraid of making a friend of the Americans.
Muslims are unified and strong
Just as the Zionists were coming to terms with the Houthi attacks on Ben Gurion airport shutting down dozens of flights into the country; thousands of miles away the Pakistani military was handing India a lesson in air warfare. The Pakistan airforce’s ability to down multiple Indian fighter jets including the vaunted Rafale was the true victory in this conflict. This was enough for India to suffer a public military and PR defeat. The attacks and ‘destroying’ of Indian bases was a game of smokes and mirrors and most likely part of the ceasefire deal.
At the height of the Pakistani attacks into India, Azerbaijan and Turkey sent Pakistan their support. Watching Ary News saw the various guests and presenter speaking of Muslim unity stating if Afghanistan was attacked by India, Pakistan would be there to defend it. Conveniently forgetting both the 20 year occupation of Afghanistan by the Americans and the murder of over 50,000 Muslims in Gaza.
Despite this there has been support from the Ummah across the world for the Muslims of Pakistan. The sight of Muslims actually being able to fight back gives hope to the Ummah that maybe things can be different. This hope is only held back by the dividing lines called borders and rulers who have no political will.
